Work Party - Jul 2022

A major task this time was clearing the 1.5m high cleavers and nettles which were swamping the recently laid hedge alongside meadow 3. Even to gain access required use of a hedge-cutter before the swamping vegetation could be hand-pulled away from the hedge. What a difference it made once all the sprouting hawthorn was exposed.

Nettles and cleavers were also cut back from parts of the path running around the entire Lake - a job well done.

Finally our D of E group of young people spruced up Scrape Hide by giving it a final preservative coat plus they set a post on concrete ready for a new bird table.

The two photos below show the hedge before and after the clearance work. The main photo shows Ken working on he path.
