This month our volunteers split forces, with one group concentrating on sections of the pathway leading in from Stockers House. I was away on holiday but the team managed to transport two tonnes of gravel with wheel barrows and our truck from the Fisherman’s car park to Stockers House entrance (a long haul). This was a really good start to improving walking conditions in times of heavy rain.
Meanwhile, round the other side of the lake another group cleared some dense undergrowth from the corral entrance to the fields, ready for the arrival of the cattle. Then they cleared some choking undergrowth from hedge saplings near Fort Drew.
One of the three cattle field water troughs necessary to supply the Dexters had failed. It draws water from the Colne and required the filter of the supply pipe to be cleaned and re-sited in the river.
