High swamping nettles were cleared around the young Jaine woodland trees but more importantly sheep's wool was placed around many of these trees to act as an organic mulch. This is very much a trial but after visiting the site a few days ago it appears that the wool is effectively suppressing nettle growth. Let's see if this success continues.
Also, boundary fence strengthening was carried out around meadow three that currently has the Dexter cattle. And the flanking hedge - running along the main public footpath - which was recently laid was also cleared of suppressing weed growth. This laid hedge looks great and provides a valuable habitat for low-nesting birds.
