Research & Recording
Do you have a special interest in flora or fauna? If so why not conduct a survey in the reserve on the subject which interests you?
We believe that it is important to know and record as much as we can about the flora and fauna of the reserve and its surroundings. We have records of birds, butterflies, dragon and damselflies, mammals, wildflowers, spiders, fungi etc. However these are not all complete and most are out of date. We could also do more on trees, shrubs, hedgerow plants, bees, wasps, moths and other insects, grasses, fish, crustaceans and others.
If you have a special interest why not conduct a survey for us? We might be able to find you some helpers who share your interest.
Already we have Steve Carter who keeps bird records and produces a wonderful annual bird report, such as the Bird Report 2020. In addition Barbara James and her team conduct an annual Butterfly Survey which gets filed with the county recorder, Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust and Butterfly Conservation
